| In 1994, again, I was attending classes within SEM (Science and Engineering of Materials) Ph.D. Program and working on the research part of my Ph.D. thesis. |
July 17-22, 1994 I attended one of Gordon Research Conferences "Frontiers of Science" in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.
By that time the research part of my dissertation was almost done. However, it took me more than one year to finish the thing.
July 30, 1994. We went to San Diego. That was our first trip out of the Phoenix area. Over 3 days we visited Sea World and San Diego Zoo and went back to Tempe.
August 1994 is marked by the arrival of the Streblechenko's. Dmitry and Natasha, they are very good friends of ours since then.
Alla started to work as a pre-school teacher for Cactus Preschool, Phoenix in September 1994.
Now that we had an additional income, we bought a newer car (Geo Prizm, 1991) and moved to a bigger apartment (Grovetree Apartments on Brown Street, Tempe).
I forgot to tell, before that we had an old beaten-up Honda Accord (1980). She died of natural causes. I bought her for $800 a year before she died. I managed to sell her for $500 to a junk-car dealer. I drove almost 1000 miles on it!
Wait, I just remembered the whole story about this Honda. I even had to appear in court because of this car. For driving without insurance and registration...
We met a couple of new people: Max Lyutikov and Airat (need too look up his last name, Shamassov, I believe)
This is pretty much it for 1994. Well, we did all kinds of stuff but I am not going to talk about it here. OK.
